An interview with Sharon Hill

Associate Director of Graduate Admissions, McCallum Graduate School of Business, Bentley College

About Bentley College

Founded in 1917, Bentley College is a business university. Focused on students interested in business and related professions, Bentley blends the breadth and technological strength of a large university with the values and student orientation of a small college.

Could you tell us about your MBA program?

The Information Age MBA program prepares business leaders to be competitive in an information-rich, technology-driven global arena. The program focuses on improving business processes and applying IT to manage both external customer relationships and internal cross-functional knowledge, for developing new services, new products and new businesses.

What sets your program apart from other MBA programs?

The defining difference in our Information Age MBA is in the integration of IT into the business curriculum. This is not a ‘technology' degree, but rather enables prospective business leaders to understand and use technology in their business decisions.

Do you encourage your full-time students to participate in extra curricular activities? How?

We have many Graduate Student Associations that students are encouraged to participate in. We hold monthly ‘lunch sessions' aimed at enabling students to take time out of their busy days to interact with other students.

What is your school doing to remain at the forefront of business and management thinking?

One of the most significant aspects Bentley College is its commitment to Business Ethics.
The Center for Business Ethics at Bentley is internationally known and dedicated to promoting ethical business conduct in contemporary society. One of the oldest resources of its kind in the U.S., the center provides an international forum for benchmarking and research in business ethics.

What can you tell us about your school's success in finding its graduates employment?

The Nathan R. Miller Center for Career Services offers numerous programs and resources designed to help graduate students explore career paths and learn the necessary job search and career development skills to advance their careers. In addition to workshops, Bentley offers on-campus recruiting, career fairs and online job listing services.

What are the characteristics you are looking for in applicants?

Bentley College looks for prospective students that have at least 1 to 3 years of work experience. We look for motivated individuals with clear career goals and focus. We evaluate each candidate on an individual basis based on GMAT/GRE scores, previous academic record (GPA), work history and goals.
