School Profiles
Durham University Business School is an internationally renowned, research led, multi-disciplinary business school delivering general and specialist masters programmes, MBAs and executive education.
It is one of a small, elite group of institutions worldwide who are accredited by all three major business school accreditation bodies - AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. This achievement is a testament to the quality of the School and provides the extra assurance that our programmes have been rigorously tested and proven to be of the high quality demanded by today’s professionals.
Durham University Business School is an integral part of Durham University, the third oldest in England after Oxford and Cambridge. Your qualification will have a hallmark of quality not only from Durham Business School, but also from a university with an impressive history and track record.
The Durham MBA
The Durham MBA is one of the world’s top MBA programmes with a long and successful history. World renowned academic teaching and learning underpinned by world class faculty and research, AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS accreditation, and a holistic programme are just some of its strengths.
The Leading Edge professional development programme is embedded within the Durham MBA to ensure that our graduates possess the knowledge, skills and experience sought by leading recruiters. A key component of the programme is the Boardroom Activity, an experience unique to the Durham MBA, which integrates academic learning into a live boardroom situation.
Also included is the International Study Experience which incorporates company visits, lectures and cultural events to enable you to learn about - and immerse yourself in - the business environment of another country.
Our expertise, attention to quality, the attentiveness of our staff, and the rich diversity of our students all combine to give you a truly international experience in the best possible professional and friendly academic environment learning environment.
The Durham Executive MBA
The Durham Executive MBA will set you apart. Its strength is its relevance to you and your employer. Reflecting the business climate and learning from successes and challenges, our connections with the business world ensure your MBA is kept current and relevant. We encourage you to base your assignments and projects on real work issues, thus offering benefits to both you and your organisation, and equipping you with a broad range of management skills.
The key assets of the programme are its participants, who come from a wide range of managerial backgrounds in both private and public sectors. Our recruitment is designed to attract experience and diversity and a central theme to our recruiting is welcoming experience and encouraging diversity within the student body.
The Durham Executive MBA requires significant commitment: our ethos is one of support - if you are willing to bring enthusiasm, we offer you the benefits of an excellent teaching programme and a highly valued qualification.
The Durham Global MBA
Business now competes on a global basis. Markets have become a 24-hour, 7-day operation, and so too must business education. With these objectives in mind, the Global Learning Centre offers you an exciting "on-demand" opportunity to engage in two-year programme that is academically rigorous and demanding, requiring true dedication and commitment, anywhere in the world.
The Global MBA offers true flexibility to suit your individual needs. The foundation of the programme is our long-established off-site delivery mode, integrating hard-copy study materials and text books with online seminars, interactive student-tutor forums and webinars, a virtual learning environment, and the annual Global MBA Summer School. For the busy executive, this has long been the preferred mode of study, with continuous enrolment and flexibility in assessment to fit the busiest of lifestyles.
Many MBA candidates, however, increasingly demand opportunities to accelerate study and gain face-to-face interaction with peers among a diverse global cohort. To this end, the Global MBA programme also offers participants the flexibility to take selected elective options in a classroom setting, joining colleagues on the Global Learning Centre's sister off-shore programmes, as well as in Durham itself. With international business field trips and online collaborative working with peers around the world, the Global MBA provides a range of value-adding networking experiences to produce one of the most flexible and individually tailored learning opportunities available.
