Since its inception in the 1960’s MBS has developed a worldwide reputation for providing exceptional business and management education. MBS established the first MBA programme in the UK and has always set itself apart from other business schools by its applied approach to providing MBA education. We prepare our students to become the international business leaders of tomorrow.
The Manchester Method: Our unique and innovative approach to learning is all about bringing theory to life. Originated and pioneered by Manchester Business School, it has influenced MBA education around the world.
Our intensive 18-month MBA delivers the competitive edge, international experience and added value other shorter programmes simply cannot match. We give you a rare opportunity to spend seven months of the programme with real businesses or organisations, putting your knowledge into action.
The programme includes the opportunity to take a 3-month internship (often paid) and a 3-month international consulting project (International Business Project) conducted with a major (usually multinational) company.
Manchester Business School is consistently ranked by independent bodies as one of the World's leading schools, particularly highly in rankings which show the value we can bring to your career:
• Business Week Return on Investment (ROI) Survey: 3rd in the world for return on investment on graduation
• FORBES ROI ranking non-US programme (May 2009): 5th in world for return on investment 5 years after graduation
• Financial Times Global MBA Survery Jan 2010: 11th in the world for career progression (7th 2009), 76% of MBA students employed within 3 months of graduating (95% 2008). Alumni survey showed that 77% received a job offer from their internship and 58% are currently working in a different country as before their MBA. 7th in the World (1st in UK) for international experience and 26th in the World for international mobility.
The Manchester MBA is transformational. Not only do we prepare you to become outstanding business leaders/entrepreneurs, we also place an important emphasis on people and how to manage and motivate them successfully. We achieve this through our intellectually stimulating classroom teaching combined with real-life client projects and the development of management/leadership skills.
In the important UK government Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), MBS is ranked first of all UK universities for research power in Business and Management and Finance and Accounting. Our original research is transferred to our MBAs through the quality of our teaching particularly in the MBA electives. The Financial Times ranks our PhD programme 2nd in the World (1st in 2008 & 2009).
The Manchester MBA programme has a genuinely global focus. We recruit an exceptionally diverse international student body creating a collaborative and dynamic environment (currently 36 nationalities, 29% women).
