School Profiles
Nottingham Business School is proud to offer an intensive, relevant, high quality international MBA educational experience. Re-designed for 2010, our new Full-time MBA (12 month) and Executive (24 month) MBA blends theory with application and experiential learning in a unique multi-stage, three-dimensional framework. Offering two live in-company consultancy projects, for which you receive a total of £800 back from your fees, the programme has been designed to prepare you to handle a wide range of challenges inherent in managing and leading contemporary organisations.
Stage 1 includes a detailed introduction to the MBA, its content, assessment and character. There are workshops on academic and business writing, an experiential management development activity (which takes place outside of the business school), and introductory team-based activities.
Stage 2 is structured around a core curriculum providing a comprehensive foundation across all the main subjects involved in business administration. There are eight compulsory modules at this stage:
Delivered by leading academics from NBS’ international faculty, each module also invites an executive guest speaker to share their experiences and to discuss the issues that have arisen while they have implemented a topic covered on the module.
Stage 3 provides for opportunity to choose subjects of specific interest for study at a greater level of depth. Students choose four electives in total.
This stage of the MBA also provides for a UK-based team consultancy project and a second International Team Consultancy Project. These projects are challenging and accelerate learning through application.
Stage 4 requires students to undertake a major individual piece of work in the form of a Business Project or Dissertation through which they identify and research a relevant management research question.
Additional features of our programme, include a Personal and Professional Development Programme (PPD) and a strategic Career Management Programme (CMP).
As such, the Nottingham Business School MBA curriculum has interwoven conceptual, contextual, professional and personal development elements designed to stretch and develop your capabilities to prepare you to make informed management decisions benefiting individuals, organisations and society. It meets the value-added proposition that is sought by organisations when they employ managers with MBAs.
