An Interview With Juliette Jouannet, Nicholls State Univer. MBA

Marketing Director, keljob.com

Could you please tell us about your background?

I was born in France and studied in Paris to graduate in 1994 with a Bachelor in Economics at Dauphine University. As my ultimate objective was to start my career with an international background, I joined Dauphine’s exchange program with an American university. I graduated at Nicholls State University, Louisiana, in 1995 with an MBA in Management and Marketing. My first job out of school was at a Media Buying Agency in New York City, where I learned about all aspects of the traditional advertising business. I pursued my career in France, after a year backpacking around the world, joining the Internet bubble in 2000. I have been working for more than three years at Keljob.com, a job search engine on Internet, as a Marketing Director.

How has your MBA helped your career?

Getting an MBA as an international student in the USA was a life-changing experience! It gave me the ability to better work with cultural differences, and my desire to evolve professionally in an international environment got stronger. I can also say that, as I got my master prior to entering the business world, which is not the usual process, my MBA helped me acquire a professional attitude and strategic thinking.

In an Internet company, it is important to be able to adapt well to changing circumstances, direction and strategy, to think ahead recognizing needs and driving development of plans to take advantage of opportunities. It is a fast
moving environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines, where
organizational and analytical skills are required. I have acquired these key methods during my MBA.

Would you actively recruit MBA graduates in your company?

Today, we are 35 people working closely to bring the best recruiting solution to recruiters and to candidates… At the moment, Keljob.com is concentrating its recruiting activity on the commercial staff.

Could Keljob be used as a case study in an MBA program?

Of course! Keljob.com was launched in a very competitive environment and was the last newcomer on its market. Three years later, it is the first independent job site in France. Our solution met a real need on the market, placing the corporate web site of our clients in the center of their recruiting process.
