The MBA Program is a 16-month full-time program delivered over four sessions. There is one intake a year which commences in January. Prior to the start of session 1, students undertake an intensive 3-week course called Foundations of Managerial Skills. This course provides an overview of the attributes and skills required for successful general management and covers the areas of team building; leadership and communication skills; and managerial effectiveness. In addition, there is a specific focus on business ethics and the role it plays in equipping managers for business success.

During the first two sessions, students are required to complete 9 core courses that are based on the six key areas of AGSM MBA Program research (Economics, Finance & Accounting, General Management, Marketing, Statistics & Operations Management, and Organisational Behaviour & Industrial Relations, and Strategy). This provides students with the solid foundations of management that support professional managers regardless of industry.

The remaining 2 sessions of study constitute the elective phase of the MBA Program where students must complete 7 elective courses. Students may study any 7 electives of interest, or to tailor their MBA, may choose several electives from one discipline in order to focus on one specific area of interest.
